Fr. David Nix: 'Trad Inc. is endangering their souls by defending yet another heretic'
'I don't know who chose Prevost, but it happened long before the '2025 Conclave.'"
Editor’s note: We are pleased to bring you yet another exclusive interview, this time with Fr. David Nix. We thank Father for his time as we know he is very busy. We asked Father about Israel, the future of Christians in the Holy Land, his assessment of Leo, Trad Inc., and more. You can support Father by following his X account, subscribing to his Substack, visiting his website (Padre Peregrino), or joining his Telegram Channel.
Stephen Kokx: Father, I hear you have been spending time in the Holy Land this summer. Have you been there before and what is it you are doing there now? How has the recent Israeli attack on Holy Family Church in Gaza affected Christians in the region?
Fr. Nix: Yes, I currently am in Jerusalem for all of July. I'll fly to Rome in August. I haven't publicized these travels because the Holy Land this summer was a semi-retreat. So, I have spent a lot of time at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and other locations. I have seen a lot here and talked to people of all faiths, frequently trying to evangelize. There are many layers to the complexity of the situation between Christians, Jews and Muslims here in the Holy Land. As far as occupied Palestinian territory, the only place I went was the West Bank, not Gaza. It's true that persecution of Christians is significant all across the Middle-East. But more Christians are dying in Syria than in Palestine right now. Catholic social media doesn't realize that back in the States.
Ultra-Zionist Mike Huckabee uncharacteristically wrote a letter expressing great frustration with the Israeli government for temporarily restricting Christian groups from entering the country. But this sort of policy seems to be exactly what Benjamin Netanyahu and his Security adviser Itamar Ben-Gvir have long wanted, namely, to cleanse the region of Christians. What does the future hold for Christians in the Holy Land?
Yes, I am surprised it took Ambassador Huckabee and other American Protestants this long to realize Israel only wants US money and weapons, not our pilgrims. Palestinian Catholics and Orthodox here in Jerusalem are bewildered at American evangelicals' love-affair with Israel. I don't think most Catholics here in the Holy Land fully realize that all politics are downstream of theology. American rapture-theology has lent itself to funding Israel's military for the "return of the Messiah." It's silly, but perhaps only recently are Baptists like Huckabee realizing Israel has been laughing at them at their dispensationalist theology while taking their money and missiles for a very long time.
Shifting gears a bit. You were one of a very small number of persons to not fall for the propaganda campaign carried out by Trad Inc. in the days after the conclave. To what do you attribute this to and why do you think other influencers aren’t speaking out about the obvious overlaps between Leo and Francis? A secret conclave deal? A failure of Trads to grasp the true nature of the crisis?
Because I am a convert from leftist Catholicism to traditional Catholicism, I see through the tricks of the left quicker than most. My Catholic roots are typical liberal Irish south-side of Chicago Catholicism. In fact, my elderly friend's late uncle, Fr. Dudley Day, recruited little Prevost for the Augustinian boarding high school seminary! Having been raised among Chicago lefties, I can sniff out a liberation theologian from a mile away. There's no doubt Prevost was heavily into liberation theology.
Now, I don't know of a secret Conclave deal, but the man who taught me canon law at my seminary in Denver is a Monsignor from Peru who knew Prevost personally. He tells me that the United Nations chose him over two years ago for Pope. Not kidding — true story! Another true story: Here in Jerusalem, a friend's friend asked Archbishop Pizzaballa two weeks before the Conclave started who it would be, and he replied, "definitely Prevost." And Pizzaballa is no traditionalist! So I don't know who chose Prevost, but it happened long before the "2025 Conclave," meaning this last Conclave was jacked too, long before it started.

A week after the conclave, you published an article on Padre Peregrino titled “The Magical ‘Convert-Making’ Chair-of-Peter.” In it, you reminded readers to not get their hopes up for Leo. You said: “The notion that God would override free-will and automatically change the intellect of a person just because he lives in Rome is a fantastical legend I see among hundreds of trad-Cats on X.” Can you expound on this more? It seems that the months since the conclave have only confirmed your warnings.
I speak Spanish, so immediately after the 2025 Conclave, I started researching bishop Prevost and his teachings. Not only did Prevost promote the mRNA re-arranger shot, but he promoted the United Nations 2030 Agenda. Do you realize how radical that is? Agenda 2030 — a global sterilization and contraception problem. If your readers don't believe me, they can find the hyperlink to that on my site. A globalist who speaks a couple few words of Latin is still a globalist. This all seems pre-apocalyptic to me.

Your blog has been going strong for quite a while. You also have over 44,000 followers on X. And you’ve recently made the jump to Substack. Other voices like Chris Jackson and The Catholic Esquire have joined this “space” recently and are making a big impact. Clearly, there was a vacuum left by Trad Inc.’s going silent. Can you speak more about this and the future of Catholic media, especially the importance of independent voices going forward?
The Vatican is still pushing hard for "a synodal Church." Many damage-control freaks on conservative Catholic podcasts back home are still saying things like, "Maybe Leo's synodalism is different from Francis' synodalism." But both leftists openly deny that! In fact, it's still up on the Vatican website that "a synodal church" is one without any hierarchy where Protestant pastors are equal to Catholic bishops. This is also linked on my site if your readers don't believe me. This means we have someone on the Chair of Peter who wants to finish the last one's attempts at destroying the hierarchical Church. So, where does Trad. Inc. come in on this? Well, the 1917 code of canon law says that anyone who defends a heretic is "suspect of heresy" himself. Yet many will turn around in a year when the poop hits the fan and say, "Well, I was just more charitable than Jackson or Kokx for giving Leo a chance!" No, no, I say, to that. Rather, Trad. Inc. is currently endangering their souls by defending yet another heretic. They better put truth ahead of false-unity or they may lose their souls. Or, if they really can't figure out the order of operations between truth and unity, they should go get a job at Home Depot.
Lastly, many saints have stressed the importance of having a good confessor or spiritual director for one's salvation. But it seems holy priests are in short supply these days. What are some typical spiritual questions laity in these times have for you and, vice versa, if you could exhort your fellow traditional clergy in just one or two key areas to improve or focus on, what would those be, and why?
As I have said on several podcasts and articles, I am a big fan of having a regular confessor. However, I have seen spiritual directors abuse their authority in the traditionalist Catholic movement too much over the last five years. I'm not just talking sexual scandals, but simply heavy-handed obedience coming from traditionalist priests to laity. Such insecure trad priests do a lot of damage when they get big heads on the little dogma they know. So, just find a regular confessor who is merciful but will challenge you when you need it. In the mean time, traditional clergy can work on asking for the Holy Ghost's gift of counsel and understanding, not just book-smarts and flexing.

Thanks for the opportunity for this Mr. Kokx!
I had no idea Fr. Nix was Padre Peregrino. Excellent!
