Burke Trashes Trad 'Extremists' Who Promote Latin Mass 'Ideology'
'This isn't some kind of contrary movement in the Church,' Burke sheepishly remarked.

It was painful to watch Cardinal Burke’s interview with Raymond Arroyo Thursday night.
Why? Because I saw an aging man who clearly means well and who had his life spared from COVID-19 only to cling to an erroneous strategy of appeasement that has already been tried and failed.
During his interview, Burke repeatedly spoke of the Latin Mass as the “Extraordinary Form” of the Roman Rite while also praising those who prefer it to the Novus Ordo.
“It’s simply that they love the form of the Mass as we knew it for as many centuries. And they find [it] so spiritually nourishing for them and for their children.”
The Folly Of Latin Mass-ism
Being ultra careful so to not give the impression that he is in any way wanting Vatican II or the Bugnini Mass to be thrown out, Burke repeated all the classic talking points Trad Inc. has been promoting for years.
He praised Benedict XVI. He spoke of how the “usus antiquior” has “great beauty” and how its prayers are “more ample.” He said that many saints throughout the centuries were formed by the Latin Mass. And he made sure to claim that the Novus Ordo “can be celebrated in a noble way” too.
By the time Burke and Arroyo’s conversation comes to its close, one walks away realizing it was merely an audition tape: a well-choreographed performance meant to assure the Modernist usurpers in Rome — Leo primarily — that all Burke and his followers really want is a few crumbs from the table and nothing more.

Pope Leo Is Watching: Time To Be On Good Behavior
Oddly, Arroyo never asked Burke about the sacrilegious LGBT Pilgrimage that took place in St. Peter’s this month.
I assume he didn’t bring it up because Burke is taking the Michal Matt “zip it” policy seriously. Indeed, had Arroyo mentioned it Burke would have likely had to say something critical of Leo.
Instead, Arroyo asked Burke about his upcoming Summorum Pontificum Pilgrimage, which will feature a Latin Mass offered by him at the Altar of the Chair of St. Peter.
“I trust the Holy Father will follow it. I know he will,” a tired-looking Burke told Arroyo of his event. “Then he will see that this isn’t a question of some ideology or some kind of contrary movement in the Church.”
Ideology? Contrary movement? With these words, Burke shows he still doesn’t understand the crisis in the Church.
Traditional Catholicism is not an “ideology.” It is the faith itself. And the “contrary movement” in the Church started with the coup launched by Yves Congar, Karl Rahner, Joseph Ratzinger, and the rest of neo-Modernists at Vatican II. One must reject their heretical ideology and Vatican II in order to keep the Catholic faith.
My friend The Catholic Esquire made note of this on one of his recent podcasts. He pointed out that we don’t need permission to be Catholic, and that we have a right to the Traditional faith and Latin Mass. In other words, we don’t need to ask the squatters in the Vatican for their approval. Watch below:
The Synodal Church Tolerates ‘Conservatives’ Who Are Silent
Burke concluded the interview by distancing himself from those of us who want to return to before the Modernist Revolution took place.
“Of course, in any group of people you’re going to find some extremists, some people who take a wrong direction,” he remarked. “It’s very rare … for me to encounter faithful who are ideological and think that they’re the only true Catholics.”
Said another way: Don’t lump me in with those Rad Trads who want to toss out the Council. I just want to be a side chapel in your Conciliar Cathedral. I want to be placed in this ecumenical zoo. Don’t mind me.
I posted the following on X about how this liberal-minded approach is entirely wrongheaded.
Archbishop Viganò also rebuked Burke’s policy of appeasement in his excellent Argumentum Ex Concessis statement published earlier this month. Here is its most relevant section:
This is an operation of de-signification of the Liturgy, which consists in being recognized with the right to celebrate in the Tridentine Rite on the condition that the celebrant does not also accept the doctrinal and moral implications of that rite. But if that “Summorum priest” accepts this principle, he must also accept its inverse application. Indeed, the moment one admits that the Liturgy can be celebrated without regard for the traditional doctrine it expresses – a doctrine the “synodal church” does not recognize and considers to be other than itself – one ends up accepting that even the reformed liturgy can ignore the errors and heresies it insinuates, errors which no Catholic worthy of the name can absolutely ratify. In doing so, however, one plays into the hands of the adversary, under the illusion of being more cunning than the devil. It all comes down to a question of dress and choreography, of aesthetics and sentiment that satisfies or does not satisfy personal taste, as Cardinal Burke’s recent words confirmed: “You don’t take something so rich in beauty and begin to strip away the beautiful elements without having a negative effect.” [3] Nothing could be more alien to the mindset of the Roman Liturgy, according to which the beauty of ceremonies is such because it is a necessary expression of the Truth it teaches and the Good it practices.
The “synodal church” includes conservatives in its coveted pantheon not only because it gives them what they want – solemn pontifical liturgies celebrated by influential prelates, without doctrinal implications – but also because none of the Holy See’s interlocutors has the slightest intention of demanding more…
I hope Cardinal Burke comes to realize the wisdom in Archbishop Viganò’s words before it is too late.

Great article. So Burke claims he has no "ideology" standing against the Vatican apostasy? Ok. I believe him.
Raymond Arroyo is a likable guy, honest as the day is long. But he’s a conservative Catholic, with no axes to grind, who doesn’t look beyond the aesthetics of the TLM. But he’s savvy enough to know Burke is a safe interview inside his EWTN gig.
